Some amazing things were done with it, and it got a lot of things right that spiritual successors like Railworks/Train Simulator haven’t. Think of it like Microsoft Train Simulator: that sim carried on long after its time thanks to the mod community. There is nothing that quite beats it in terms of feel or scope in a single package, and nothing likely will until LOTUS (I haven’t played The Bus, but I have played Bus Simulator and it’s godawful and the sequel looks to be more of the same).
